I have not seen the car in person, but I know it is an authentic restoration with great attention to detail. Restored with the original components and removable top. A rare and useful feature is the adjustable steering column. The original 1929 sales pamphlet is rare and difficult to find. I believe this has always been a California car, as it was sold new in Calif and located there in the 1970's.  Perhaps the pictures tell the story best, and finally this is the most requested year and body style of any Gardner automobile.

This very rare one of nine known to currently exist 1929 Gardner Model 120 Deluxe Roadster has had a frame up restoration, including a high quality repaint in factory colors, and is beautifully upholstered in leather hides. All of the levers on the steering wheel are correct and working, (as compared with most others which contain missing or broken switchgear), and all of the gauges are operating properly. The Lycoming 8 In-Line engine starts and runs flawlessly and silently.

The majority of the cosmetic enhancements were done very nicely by the previous owner. However, I have performed an extensive mechanical overhaul of all the vehicle’s operating systems. This included rebuilding the transmission at which time all bearings and gaskets were replaced. Upon inspection the gears looked like new, and the car performs and shifts exactly as it did when originally delivered. Additional refurbished systems include the four lever type shocks, and the hydraulic brakes.  Of note is the fact the master cylinder was correctly rebuilt and re-sleeved by White Post Restorations in Virginia.

The wiring system and all electrical components operate perfectly, and I have added a battery shut off switch and installed an on-board charger to the 8 volt system.  The fuel system has been upgraded to an electric fuel pump. This is a reliable vehicle that starts easily. On a cold start you only need to give it a little choke and retard the timing and she starts right up. This car is a blast to drive and has a fully operational rumble seat.

Unfortunately, I have not had a chance to show the car at local shows,  so you could be the first to do so.  I can guarantee no one else will have a car like this at any local or regional show you may attend. This vehicle may not rise to the level of a concourse Pebble Beach restoration, but it is in super nice condition, is lots of fun to drive, and turns heads wherever I go.  The pictures do not do it justice.

My reason for selling the car is that I have had my enjoyment with this superb vehicle, and I am looking forward to completing another project at this time, which necessitates finding a new home for this car with a qualified buyer.

It is presently registered in my name, with a clear California title. I am happy to discuss all aspects of the restoration with interested parties.

Price $75,000.
